Parabola is a documentary produced while in school at Full Sail University in the Dital Media Production class of Full Sail’s Digital Media curriculum in 2005.
The requirements were as follows:
5 minutes in length before credits
include 3 second id sequence
graphics and motion graphics
delivered on dvd with intro, menu and chapters
There were six students and two instructors on the crew. We all shared responsibilities during production so we could learn the essentials of documentary video production including finding locations, prepping, lighting and micing our subject and recording different angles for interest.
I believe the camera we used was a sony dv cam. I’m not sure of the model but it was pretty big and sat on a nice fluid head tripod.
All writing*, graphics and editing was done by me, Richie Drouant. Most of the audio recording except the interview and songs were recorded and mixed by Caleb for the documentary.
Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects were used for all graphics and motion graphics production. Final Cut Pro and ProTools were used for video and audio editing.
Several mediums were produced to deliver the end product for a grade and entry into the Ozone Film Festival in 2005. The mediums included a dvd, interactive cd-rom and a website complete with behind the scenes footage used to promote this student documentary for the Ozone Film Festival along with print media like posters, flyers and two sided postcards for information about the creator and subject.
Location – Full Sail
*grade did not reflect writing and was more focused on production value.
